Three double gameweek teams and the international break make GW32 the most important chip week of the season. Here is exactly when to pull the trigger.

FPL Chip Strategy Guide for Gameweek 32: When to Play Your Wildcard, Triple Captain & Bench Boost

**GW32 Deadline: Friday 10 April 2026, 10:30 BST**

GW32 is arguably the most important strategic week of the FPL season. Three double gameweeks, FA Cup quarter-finals reshaping blank/double schedules for GW33-36, and the end-of-season run-in approaching fast. If you haven't used your chips yet, the next 4 weeks will define your final rank.

Here's when to play each one.

## The Situation: Why GW32-34 Is Chip Season

Three things are happening simultaneously:

1. **GW32 has three DGW teams** Brighton, Man Utd, Liverpool
2. **FA Cup quarter-finals (4-5 April)** will create further blanks and doubles in GW33/34
3. **GW33-36 likely feature more DGW opportunities** as postponed fixtures get rescheduled

The FPL managers who read this correctly and deploy chips at the right time will rocket up the rankings. Those who wait too long will miss the window.

## Wildcard — Play It in GW32 if Your Team Is Broken

**Best for:** Managers with a squad full of injured, out-of-form, or expensive dead weight.

The Wildcard lets you rebuild from scratch. In GW32, that means loading up on:

**Core DGW targets:**
- **Bruno Fernandes** (Man Utd, £10.3m) elite form, two home games
- **Danny Welbeck** (Brighton, £6.2m) 4 goals in 5 games, double
- **Jan Paul van Hecke** (Brighton DEF, £4.5m) defensive double, DefCon threat
- **Virgil van Dijk** (Liverpool DEF, £6.3m) set piece threat, strong fixture
- **Dominik Szoboszlai** (Liverpool MID, £7.0m) reliable starter, double

**Then fill around:** Haaland (Chelsea A), Bowen (Wolves H), Gordon (Newcastle)

## Triple Captain The High-Risk, High-Reward Play

**Best for:** Managers who are behind in their mini-league and need a big swing.

In GW32, the Triple Captain candidates are:

**1. Bruno Fernandes (best option)**
Two home games for Man Utd with Fernandes in the form of his life 83 points under Carrick in 10 games. Tripling him gives you potential for 30+ points from the armband alone.

**2. Erling Haaland**
Chelsea have one clean sheet in 15 league games. If Haaland fires against them, the ceiling is enormous. Riskier due to his patchy recent form but the fixture is perfect.

**The math:** A haul of 12 points × 3 = 36 points from one player. That can move you 1,000+ places in a week.

## Bench Boost — Wait, Don't Rush It

The Bench Boost is most effective when you have **maximum double gameweek players** across all 15 squad slots not just your starting 11.

**GW32 is good but not perfect** for Bench Boost unless your full 15 are DGW players. Consider holding if GW33 or GW34 produces a larger DGW window.

**Wait for:** Confirmation of which teams have doubles in GW33/34 before using Bench Boost.

---

## Free Hit When to Use It

The Free Hit gives you a completely temporary squad for one gameweek — then reverts back.

**Hold the Free Hit for now.** The optimal time is likely an upcoming blank gameweek, where only 6-8 teams play. Using Free Hit in a blank lets you pick from only the playing teams and maximise returns.

**Expected BGW window: GW33 or GW34** wait for FA Cup semi-final clarity.

## Chip Decision Flowchart

**Are you behind in your mini-league by 30+ points?**
→ Yes → Triple Captain Fernandes or Haaland in GW32. Go big or go home.
→ No → Play it safe. Wildcard/Bench Boost in GW33/34.

**Is your squad broken (injuries, bad assets, no DGW coverage)?**
→ Yes → Wildcard now. Rebuild around DGW players.
→ No → Hold. One or two targeted transfers is enough.

**Do you have 10+ DGW players in your squad?**
→ Yes → Bench Boost in GW32 could be excellent.
→ No → Build toward it with transfers first.
