Gibbs-White: Missed the Boat?

Five attacking returns in two gameweeks. Fourth highest scoring midfielder in FPL. At 7.6 million, Morgan Gibbs-White is suddenly looking like decent value. But is now the time to buy?

What He Has Done Lately

Gibbs-White followed up his hat-trick against Burnley with a goal and an assist against Sunderland. Those five attacking returns in two gameweeks have sent his ownership climbing fast. He went from a differential to one of the most owned midfielders in the game.

The Problem With Buying Now

The Burnley and Sunderland fixtures are gone. Forest's run-in now looks like this: Chelsea away in GW35, Newcastle home in GW36, Manchester United away in GW37. Chelsea have been poor at keeping clean sheets recently, but Newcastle at home is a completely different proposition. United away is similarly difficult.

You are buying Gibbs-White after all the points have come, before three fixtures that are considerably harder than the ones he just returned against. His ownership is also no longer differential territory. At 7.6 million with those upcoming fixtures, the value proposition has shifted.

He is fine to hold if you already own him. Forest are in a relegation fight, which means Gibbs-White plays 90 minutes every week. That is valuable reliability. But buying fresh at this price, before difficult away fixtures, does not feel like the right timing.

The Penalty Question

Chris Wood is back from injury now, which likely means Wood takes penalties over Gibbs-White. That is a meaningful downgrade to his points potential. If Wood was still out, the case for buying Gibbs-White would be stronger.

Verdict: If You Already Have Him, Hold. If You Do Not, Look Elsewhere.

Gibbs-White owners have been rewarded for their patience. Selling now after a five-return fortnight feels harsh, but holding is justified by the minutes alone. If you are without him, this is not the week to bring him in. Wait for a better fixture run or a clearer penalty situation.
